Jajpur, April 14 (LocalWire): Miscreants stole an ATM from the booth of a private bank on Saturday night at Chandikhola under Dharmasala police station in Jajpur district. Police is on a manhunt to arrest the culprits.
Locals informed the police on Sunday morning after they found the HDFC Bank ATM missing.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the criminals used axes, gas cutters and hammers to remove the ATM that had no security guard at night after masking the CCTV camera and removing the ATM’s area camera screen. They later carried it away in a vehicle.
The bank manager filed an FIR on Sunday and police conducted a spot inquiry with the help of a scientific team, said Saroj Sahoo, the IIC of Dharmasala police station.
‘We have registered a case against unknown people under Sections 380 (theft), 454 (lurking, trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence), 457 (lurking, house trespass or house-breaking at night to commit offence) of the IPC and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act,’ he added.
