Bhubaneswar, April 15 (LocalWire): A cruise 1,000 km strike range missile Nirbhay was successfully test fired off the Odisha coast on Monday at Chandipur in Balasore district.
The indigenously developed sub-sonic missile developed by the DRDO, can carry warheads up to 300 kg and was fired for a shorter range from a launch pad from the Integrated Test Range.
The missile can travel with a turbofan or turbojet engine and is guided by a highly advanced inertial navigation system.
Nirbhay missile also has the capability of striking a target among multiple targets.
Last successful test launch of the missile took place in November 2017.
