Berhampur, August 24 (LocalWire): MKCG Medical College authorities on Saturday felicitated the doctors who conducted safe delivery of a woman on the roadside of the National Highway 16 at Kamapalli here on Friday.
Raunak Gandhi and Debadarshini Sahu, who are doing their DM in Endocrinology at the MKCG Medical College conducted the delivery of a 27-year old pregnant woman on the roadside, while a junior doctor Sruti Ranjan Patnaik assisted the duo and helped to transport and admit the mother and her baby girl in the hospital.
While felicitating the two doctors, the college principal-cum- dean Radha Madhab Tripathy said that they have done an admirable work and acted like an angel when the pregnant women experienced labour pain on the roadside.
“While they were going to the medical college, they came across the pregnant woman who was suffering from labour pain.
The doctors immediately rushed to the spot and helped deliver the baby girl safely.
Both the mother and the girl are in good condition and undergoing treatment at the gynecology ward,” superintendent Charan Panda said.
Soon after the delivery, the woman and her baby were shifted to the medical college in a private ambulance by Patnaik.
“They are really praiseworthy as they voluntarily extended the assistant for safe delivery of the woman,” Panda stated.
Staffs of the nearby diagnostic center also extended a helping hand to the woman.
The woman from Samantiapalli was coming from her village on a bus for her ultrasound in a private diagnostic center, while her husband with one of her sons was coming on a motorbike.
She was waiting for her husband when the labour pain started.
