Berhampur, March 27 (LocalWire): Ganjam and Gajapati district administrations have decided to set up at least 11 and five model booths respectively in the twin elections to be held in the next month.
‘We have decided to set up the model polling booths in urban areas like Paralakhemundi and Kasinagara towns,’ said Gajapati Collector Anupam Saha.
In these model polling stations, voters would be given a red carpet welcome by offering flowers, facilities like lounge for sitting, fan and air-cooler, drinking water and toilet facilities will be available for voters, said Saha.
While in Ganjam there are a total of 3063 polling stations in 13 Assembly constituencies, Gajapati district has 573 polling stations in two Assembly segments -Paralakhemundi and Mohana.
For the first time, both districts will have pink booths, solely managed by women officers. In Ganjam, the district administration has decided to set up one pink booth in each Assembly segment.
‘The women polling officers, who will manage these booths have been given special training,’ said an officer. Each booth will have at least six women personnel, he said.
