Berhampur, Jan 28 (localWire) A monkey who was stuck in a high-rise mobile tower, since Monday night at Jayamangal Nagar, near Gate Bazar area has been rescued by the forest and fire officials on Tuesday.
The monkey could not jump to other places as its tail was hooked in an iron joint of the 80-feet height tower.
It took around five people, including firefighters and staff from the forest department, and two hours to climb the tower and rescue the monkey.
While the monkey tried to attack to the rescue party, at least 15 other monkeys also gathered at the site and tried to attack them, said an assistant fire officer, Berhampur Sanatan Mohapatra.
The animal was rescued after covering it with a net.
It was offered food. Though, the animal sustained minor injured on its tail, the monkey was seen jumping from roof to roof along with other monkeys from the area, he said.
After getting information from local people, they rushed to the spot. They chalked out a plan with the forest officials regarding the rescue operation, Mohapatra told LocalWire.
The locals have also come forward to assist the rescue team in this operation while guarding them against the other monkeys trying to attack them, he added.
