Bhubaneswar, Sept 27 (LocalWire): Two MLAs and 134 others today tested positive for Coronavirus infection in the sample testing which was undertaken in a special camp on Odisha Assembly campus.
The testing was done as per the orders of the Speaker. The results of the Day 1 testing claimed that serving MLAs Debi Prasad Mishra and Pramila Malik tested positive for the viral disease.
With their positive results, these legislators are most likely to not be able to attend the entire session as per the new rules. In addition to the 2 MLAs, 134 others including assembly staff, personal staff of MLAs and journalists tested positive for the pandemic.
A total of 757 samples were tested on Day 1. Other samples collected today have now been sent to labs for screening.
Both the MLAs informed about their COVID status on their social media handles. The legislators have asked people who were in their contact to isolate themselves.
The results have come just two days before the Monsoon Session of the Assembly is slated to start.
