Paradip, Jan 8 (LocalWire) Number of birds have increased at the plant site of Paradeep Phosphate Limited (PPL) as per the latest bird Census.
“Great news for bird and environment lovers of the state as arrival of winged guests inside Paradeep Phosphate Limited‘s plant site this year almost doubled,” said PPL Chief Manager (Corporate Affairs) Sudhi Ranjan Mishra on Tuesday.
“As per the latest Census by DFO Rajnagar the final bird count this year at PPL stands at 27,000 where as last year it was around 14,000. This year it is 40 types of birds arrived where as last year it was 36,” said Mishra.
He said the enumerators also located a new bird species called Grey Breasted Duck at PPL site.
“PPL management is very happy over this news as Birds are coming every year and every year the number is increasing. This shows there is less pollution at plant site and PPL has preserved the environment very well,” said Mishra.
The census team was led by Dy Range Officer Manas Kumar Das.
“The forest officials also expressed great satisfaction over PPL’s ecological equilibrium and the effort of the officials to maintain it properly,” he said.
