Puri, Dec 18 (LocalWire) Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy on Tuesday said more crow deaths have been reported from Puri district.
“More crow deaths have been reported from areas near bird flu affected villages.
The samples have been sent for lab test to Bhopal and Cuttack,” said Maharathy.
Meanwhile, the minister said culling operations are being carried out in a phased manner at Sana Sahi, Maluda and Patharganj villages of the district.
Culling has been ordered within 1 km radius of the areas where avian influenza virus has been detected on Dec 12.
Bhopal-based National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) has detected avian influenza virus in dead crows and boiler fowl found near Krushna Prasad in Chilika, on Ganjam-Puri border area.
Bird flu scare triggered among people after 31 crows were found dead at Sialia and Aladapatna villages, near Krushna Prasad under Nuapada wildlife range in Chilika wildlife range on December 8.
Several chickens also reportedly die in nearby areas at Sana Sahi after the death of the crows.
