Bhubaneswar, Oct 15 (LocalWire): The State Transport Authority (STA) today said that it has seen an increase in the collection of motor vehicle revenue collection in September against the collections made in August this year.
The department said that in September, the department was able to see a total of Rs 117 crore collections while in August the collections were pegged at Rs 89.5 crore.
This is an increase of 31 per cent in one month. However the department saw a collection of Rs 126 crore in September 2019.
“After opening of lock down restriction from June 2020 onwards, the MV revenue is improving every month.
In the month of June 2020 the collection was 15% less than the collection in June 2019 and July collection was 18% less , August was 20% less,” the department said in a statement.
It also added, “However the collection in the month of September 2020 has bridged the collection figure gap to only 7 percent less than that of September 2019.
The collection has picked up due to growing sale of new motor vehicles and collection of taxes due to increased economic activity particularly in the mining sector,”
According to the department, from April 2020 to September 2020 it has seen a collection of Rs 501 crore while in 2019 during the same period the collection stood at Rs 787 crore.
