Jagatsinghpur, May 8 (LocalWire): A gang of motorcycle thieves who were stealing bikes during the nationwide lockdown for COVID-19 has been arrested by the Jagatsinghpur police.
The police have recovered 8 stolen motorcycles from their possession.
The gang had stolen a motorcycle from the house of Rajesh Kumar Sahoo of Lalashai yesterday and another from Saumaya Kant Samantray of Kashipur village in Balasore district.
Rajesh Kumar Sahoo had lodged an FIR in Jagatsinghpur police station yesterday, upon which the police registered a case against unidentified persons.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of accused Abinash Panda, 22, of Pandasahai Mukundpur and seized stolen motorcycles.
During interrogation, he confessed the names of 3 other persons Bijaya Kumar Ojha, 23, Asique Khan, 24, and Pahali Singh, 32, all of them under the jurisdiction of Jagatsinghpur police station.
The IIC of Jagatsinghpur police station Rajani Kant Mishra said, “We have arrested the four accused persons & forwarded them to the court. Eight stolen motorcycles were seized from their possession. Two other accused are absconding”.
