Bhubaneswar, May 30 (LocalWire): Celebrated Odisha mountaineer Kalpana Das’s body was brought to Lukla, Kathmandu, on Thursday; two days after it was shifted to Base Camp 2 of the Mount Everest.
It could not be airlifted to Kathmandu yesterday due to inclement weather, sources said.
Her body was retrieved by a team of Sherpas following her death while descending from the peak on May 23.
A three-member team from Odisha is already in Kathmandu to bring back her body. It is expected to take two more days.
Kalpana had first successfully scaled the Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, in May 2008.
