Berhampur, November 15 (LocalWire): A 34-year old undertrial murder accused was found dead in mysterious circumstances at sub-jail Aska in Ganjam district on Friday.
Doctor Sahu alias Daka, a resident of Badagada in Ganjam, was found unconscious 15-20 minutes after he woke up in the morning.
He was immediately rushed to Aska hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, jailor of Aska sub-jail Chitta Ranjan Sahu said.
The doctor was lodged in the jail in a murder case on 29 October this year, he stated.
According to the officer, Sahu did not have dinner last night and went to sleep like other days.
He was sleeping along with others, including his brother Kuna Sahu, who is a co-accused in the same murder case.
The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem at the MKCG Medical College here.
“We suspect that he might have died due to cardiac arrest. The exact reason for his death, however, will be known only after the post-mortem,” the jailor said.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case of unnatural death in this regard.
“We have registered a case and initiated an inquiry into the matter,” Aska police station inspector-in- charge PK Sahoo said.
He further stated that the family members of the deceased have not complained about his death so far.
