Berhampur, Feb 10 (Localwire): BJP State General Secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra on Saturday failed to appear before the Ganjam police in connection with the murder of BJD’s youth wing leader Laxmidutta Pradhan on September 17, 2017.
Boxipatra cited health reasons for his inability to appear before the police at Chhatrapur.
In a letter to police through his advocate, Boxipatra sought one month’s time to visit police station as he was taking rest as per the doctor’s advice. He also submitted the doctor’s prescription along with the letter to the police.
One January 28, police had served notice to Boxipatra and Golak Mohapatra, a senior leader and party’s state unit spokesperson to appear before police for questioning in the murder case of BJD’s youth wing leader.
On February 7, Mahapatra failed to appear before the Ganjam police citing health problem.
“Boxipatra also did not come to face interrogation citing his illness like Mohapatra” said sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Chhatrapur Ramesh Chandra Sethi. “We will serve fresh notices to them for interrogation” he said.
As many as 19 persons, including BJP’s Ganjam district unit secretary Krushna Chandra Nayak and Laxmipur Panchayat Samiti member N.Duryodhan Reddy had been arrested in this case, police said.
Reddy and Nayak, the alleged mastermind of the murder of BJD leader, were arrested from Derhadun in Uttarakhand on October 28, 2017.
