Bhubaneswar, April 4 (LocalWire): The state government accepted the resignation of medical officer Budhan Murmu, a BJP nominee from Saraskana Assembly constituency in Mayrubhanj district today, after a lot of delay.
A BJP delegation had met chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi earlier in the day demanding approval of Murmu’s resignation which he had rendered in October last year after he decided to contest the polls.
‘The state government accepted Murmu’s resignation effective from April 4,’ a notification issued by the Odisha Health Department stated.
The BJP had accused the ruling party of delaying the process because they were afraid Murmu might win the polls from the Assembly segment. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, too, had criticized Patnaik over the issue.
A BJP delegation including Murmu had gone to meet the CM at his residence earlier because of the delay in accepting his resignation but to no avail.
