Bhubaneswar, August 22 (LocalWire): Since no permissions were given for holding community-level Ganesh Puja in pandals owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are considerably muted this year.
People are celebrating Ganesh Puja in their homes, worshipping the few small idols that were available in the market this year.
Idol-makers had expected very little business as permissions were not granted for holding the Puja in community-level pandals.
The Ganesh Puja is a favourite for students everywhere, especially in schools and colleges, as students believe that Lord Ganesh bestows them with cleverness and intelligence.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced students to worship the Lord in their homes as schools and colleges have been closed for over 5 months now.
Notably, in Bhubaneswar, Lord Ganesh was worshiped in more than 400 pandals every year.
Similarly, there are more than 1,500 registered Ganesh Puja clubs or committees in Cuttack.
In Jatani, more than 200 mandapas worship the Elephant God with pomp every year.
All these pandals, mandaps and committees have not been granted permission to hold the puja this year.
