Bhubaneswar, October 4 (LocalWire): Authorities at the Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) here have announced that they have received a pair of capuchin and squirrel monkey from Arignar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP) in Chennai.
Both the animals are exotic primate species.
With the addition of these two new species, the number species ensconced in the captive condition of the zoo has gone up to 156.
Meanwhile, the NZP officials also informed that four female elephants in the zoo are stated to be in perfect health condition.
It may be recalled here that NZP had lost four elephants due to deadly herpes viral infection during the last one month, bringing down the number of pachyderms to four.
“Health condition of white tiger Subhranshu is also improving and it is recovering from the liver disorder.
The big cat is under constant observation of zoo veterinarians,” the official stated.
The zoo officials also said that a marmoset and two blackbucks were born at the Park on Wednesday, while a brow-antlered deer was born in the zoo on Tuesday.
