Bhubaneswar, May 20 (LocalWire): The Nandankanan Zoological Park, which was ravaged in Cyclone Fani, opened for visitors on Tuesday, an official said.
“The zoo was closed after the May 3 storm. A technical team has given its go ahead after an inspection, and accordingly it has been decided to open the park for public,” he said.
The green cover of the zoo was badly affected by the storm. A large number of trees and plants at the zoo as well as at the Botanical Garden were uprooted, or damaged, in the storm.
As many as 213 enclosures built for the animals at the zoo were also damaged in the cyclone.
