Bhubaneswar, Aug 25 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today wrote to the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal seeking postponement of NEET and JEE examination.
The CM cited the looming threat from Coronavirus and battled for postponement of the exams scheduled in the month of September.
The CM said that around 50000 students are expected to appear in NEET and 40000 in JEE. Seven of the Odisha cities have been chosen for the exams.
“I would like to say that in view of the prevailing COVID pandemic situation in the country, it would be highly unsafe and perilous for the students to visit the test centres physically to appear in these tests,” he said.
He also said, “Besides, as frequent lockdown/shutdown are being enforced by the concerned district administrations due to sudden escalation of the COVID positive case locally, the local transportation too gets disrupted,”
The CM requested the Minister to consider delaying the exams and also ensuring exam centres in all 30 district.
