Bhubaneswar, Aug 27 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today talked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone requesting him to postpone JEE and NEET exams.
Citing the looming threat from Coronavirus, the CM sought his personal intervention into the issue.
The CM has sought postponement of the exams for now.
It is reported the CM apprised the Prime Minister about the rising cases of Coronavirus in the state and also the threat of floods in parts of the state due to heavy rains.
This is the CM’s second major attempt at national level.
He had recently written to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal requesting him to postpone the exams, scheduled in September.
According to government figures close to 90,000 students are expected to appear in the NEET and JEE (Mains) examinations from Odisha alone.
