Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 (LocalWire) The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday continued inspecting Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across Odisha.
The NCPCR team, along with officials of Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR), Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Angul District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), inspected Adrut Children Home and Bajirout Chhatrabas in the district.
Another team headed by NCPCR official Payal Sharma visited Berhampur and inspected various shelter homes like Child Correction Home in Berhampur and Good News India’s shelter home at Saheb Jenapalli area in Chhatrapur of Ganjam district.
Earlier on Thursday, the NCPCR inspected JKoraput district shelter homes, including Missionaries of Charity and Rejoice Care Centre.
Nine teams of NCPCR will inspect shelter homes across 19 districts in Odisha and submit their report to Women and Child Development Ministry.
Meanwhile, Union women and child development minister Maneka Gandhi has ordered a probe into the alleged sexual harassment to inmates of Dream Centre Shelter Home (DCSH) at Balitikiri village in Dhenkanal district.
The incident came to fore after girls staying at DCSH alleged that the centre’s in-charge Simanchal Naik and managing director Fayaz Rehman used to sexually harass them.
Based on their complaint, the police sealed the shelter, run by non-governmental organization (NGO) Good News India (GNI) and arrested Naik and Fayaz Rehman.
