Bhubaneswar, Feb 16 (LocalWire) With Odisha being prone to floods and cyclones, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) will conduct joint exercise before monsoon to tighten up disaster preparedness.
NDRF Director General (DG) Satya Narayan Pradhan on Saturday met Odisha DG RP Sharma in this regard.
“ODRAF is an expert in tackling floods and cyclone, while NDRF are more experienced in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear disasters, besides being first medical responders. Combining our expertise will lead to more efficient disaster handling,” said Pradhan.
Though the dates for joint exercise are yet to be finalized, mock drills are expected to start from March.
