Berhampur, Dec 17 (LocalWire): A newborn girl was rescued from an abandoned house in Kaipada under Ganjam district’s Kodala police station limits today.
The child was admitted to the local hospital before being shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. The condition of the 2.4 kg baby is stated to be good.
Childline activists are looking after the rescued baby who will be produced before the child welfare committee after being discharged from the hospital, said director of Childline Berhampur Sudhir Sabat.
Police suspect the child was delivered in some nearby home-stay and later abandoned. They are investigating the case.
Childline activists said they had rescued at least four abandoned girls in four months from different areas of the district.
