Bhubaneswar, Oct 22 (LocalWire): Taking cognizance of alleged negligence of police investigating the brutal murder of a nurse, the National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Jagatsinghpur district police seeking a compliance report.
The Rights panel in its recent order asked the district police chief to submit a compliance report on or before 24 November.
‘The police have not properly investigated the murder.
There are more than one people involved in the crime.
However, the investigators failed to make any major breakthrough,’ the petition moved by Rights activist Pratap Mohanty alleged.
The body of nurse Niharika Patra, who was missing since 8 September, was found on Biluakhai river bed near Nuapari area in the district on 17 September sparking statewide furore.
Patra, a native of Bhingarpur village of Khurda district was working as a nurse at a private nursing home in Cuttack.
A 29-year-old man, Kishore Anchal alias Raja who had perpetrated the gruesome murder had surrendered before the police.
