Berhampur, Jan 28 (LocalWire) Police on Monday arrested nine people, including a teenager, for allegedly being involved in two separate murder cases in Ganjam district.
Eight people were arrested for alleged involvement in the murder of Andhra Bank cashier at Mundamaria under Dharakote police station limits last Wednesday,
In a separate case, the Aska police arrested the accused who had allegedly stoned to death a 32-year-old man at the foothills of Magurahill, near Venkataraipalli on January 19.
“The accused, identified as Baya Nahak of the same village had stoned to
death Rabindra Nahak following a minor quarrel after consuming liquor,” said Aska police station inspector-in-charge Santosh Kumar Jena.
Police arrested eight people, including a 17-year-old boy, for beating to death Binaya Behera (27), Andhra Bank cashier at Mundamarai branch on January 22.
The accused were identified as Bhagaban Gouda, Narayan Gouda, Jagan Biswal, Sameer Gouda, Tukuna Gouda, Bulu Gouda and Bahan Gouda of Mundamari village, police said.
“The bank officer was lynched on suspicion of having an affair with minor sister of one of the accused,” said Dharakote police station inspector-in-charge Subhalaxmi Pujari.
She said two more accused in the case are still absconding.
