Rourkela, August 17 (LocalWire): An assistant professor of Rourkela National Institute of Technology (NIT) and his spouse were found dead at their official residence, here, the police said.
The deceased were identified as R Jayabalan (38), an assistant professor of the Life Sciences Department and his 35-year-old wife Malavi Kesavan. Both were natives of Erode district in Tamil Nadu.
The police had to break open the door of the house after neighbours reported about the foul smell coming from their residence.
The police have recovered two bodies in a decomposed state and sent them for post mortem.
While the exact cause of the couple’s death is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests that it may be a case of suicide. Scientific and forensic teams have rushed to the spot to elicit vital clues related to the case.
The shocked residents of NIT colony informed that the couple was living there for eight years and they were quite amiable and hospitable.
