Bhubaneswar, December 21 (LocalWire) :Cold continues to sweep across Odisha with the mercury dipping to 9 degree Celsius in the tourist destination Daringibadi and at Sonepur district, making these coldest places in the state since past 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar officials, the cold wave condition will continue for next 72 hours across the State with no change in minimum temperature.
Daringibadi and Sonepur was followed by Kandhamal and Sundargarh districts, which recorded a minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius, the Meteorological centre here said.
The temperature dipped below 11 degree Celsius in Keonjhargarh- 10.4, Titlagarh- 10.6, Jharsuguda- 10.8 and Balasore- 10.8.
The cold weather was also experienced in several other places with mercury standing at 11.5 degree in Sambalpur, 11.6 degree in Baripada, 12 degree in Koraput, Hirakud- 12.7 degree.
The mercury stood at 14.6 degree Celsius in state capital Bhubaneswar, while neighbouring Cuttack city recorded a minimum temperature of 13 degree Celsius. The port town of Gopalpur and Malkangiri district were comparatively hotter places with temperature of 18 degree Celsius, it said.
Cold wave conditions are likely to continue for at least one week in the state. The night temperature in most areas is likely to dip in the state, the Met centre said.
