Bhubaneswar, October 12 (LocalWire): Around 300 government-run primary schools in the state do not have toilet facilities for the girls, while 1,300 more schools have no toilet facilities for both boys and girls.
According to the data from the Schools and Mass Education Department, while Odisha has 67,671 state-run primary schools, 159 schools have no building of their own.
As these institutions do not have land, the school buildings could not be built despite sanctioned funds.
These schools are running either in rented houses or in youth clubs in the villages, a survey by the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) said, adding that overall 11,759 schools do not have separate toilet facilities for boys and girls.
The department report also reveals that overall 14,000 sanctioned teachers’ posts are vacant in primary schools across the state.
