Bhubaneswar, Dec 12 (LocalWire): Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has decided to make it mandatory for all the housing projects in the capital city to create dedicated cycle tracks, its vice-chairman Prem Chandra Chaudhary said on Thursday.
The housing units will have to give the highest priority to public transport, walking and non-motorised vehicles that everyone can access and cause less pollution, he told LocalWire.
As per the guidelines, housing projects will not get approval if it fails to provide the required infrastructure and commitment for promoting the non-motorized transport, especially Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) in building and plot level.
The building plan committee of development authority wing of BDA has formulated a provision to make these facilities available, integral to planning.
To maintain ambient environment standard and reduce vehicular pollution, the city administration comprising Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have already decided to observe ‘no vehicle day’.
