Bhubaneswar, Dec 18 (LocalWire) Principal secretary to the Chancellor Madhu Sudan Padhi on Tuesday refuted allegations of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) vice-chancellor (VC) Prof S Pasupalak that he was trying to influence his work.
“The letter is an attempt by the Vice Chancellor to divert attention from the allegations levelled against him which were sent by agriculture minister to the Governor for inquiry by appropriate authority,” read Padhi’s letter to the chief secretary commenting on the allegations.
Prof Pasupalak had earlier complained his inability to work freely due to influence of the Chancellor’s office.
In a letter dated Oct 31 addressed to Odisha Chief Secretary, Prof Pasupalak wrote, “I am of the opinion that the principal secretary to the Chancellor is influencing our university matters.”
“It may be mentioned here that few explanation letters have been issued to Dr Snehalata Nanda, professor of community science, OUAT, wife of the principal secretary for negligence in duty,” the letter read.
The VC said: “I have got several directions, orders from the office of the Chancellor for cancellation/reconsideration/explanation/views on several administrative decision of the university during the last few months.”
Prof Pasupalak said he had appraised the matter with documents personally to the Chancellor on October 15, who had verbally instructed the additional secretary and personal secretary to undo the wrong ones.
“However, when I met the principal secretary on the same day and discussed the issues, I felt humiliated by words, gesture sarcastic laughing at high pitch,” he said.
“Even after that I got few more letters to undo the transfers made due to gross financial irregularity, disobedience and negligence in duty,” alleged Prof Pasupalak.
