Kendrapara, Nov 26 (LocalWire): England-based NRI Dr Sahadev Swain visits the nondescript village Saliancha under Aul block in Kendrapara district every year with the only mission to provide free health service to the villagers.
He organizes health camps and provides free and quality medical facilities to the villagers.
‘When I treat patients sitting in my village, I get satisfaction by being able to help the poor,’ Dr Swain said.
‘I decided to transform the lives of these villagers by providing them free and quality medical facilities.
I owe a lot to my my family and my village. Everyone should give back something to their family, village, state and country and I have started in a very small way in my village, he said.
If India has any hope of playing a dominant role in the time to come, it needs to drastically improve its education and health facilities.
Otherwise, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ will prove hollow and self-defeating,’ added Dr Swain.
Dr Sahadev Swain who was born in the riverside village Saliancha in 1960 studied in the village primary school and passed HSC examination from the High School at Aul.
Later, he passed MBBS from Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur.
‘Swain did many developmental work in the village and returns to it every year and look after the needy,’ said Gunadhar Samal, Dr Swain’s classmate and an engineer of Roads and Buildings department at Kendrapara.
