Baripada, June 28 (LocalWire): The new Primary Health Centre (PHC), which was running as Area Hospital in Sarat area in Kaptipada block in Mayurbhanj district, is being managed by a nurse and another junior health staff due to the alleged absence of two doctors.
Irregularity in the duty of the doctors has triggered resentment among the local residents as more than 10,000 people in Sarat, Katria and Kalam Gadia along with their nearest villages are dependent on the hospital.
The residents been have forced to take patents to either Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital or Kaptipada Hospital due to the absence of doctors in the PHC.
One Minati Behera, 40, of Sarat who consumed more than eight tablets and complained of headache and weakness had been taken to the PHC in Sarat where she was not provided treatment.
After some hours of waiting in front of the PHC veranda, she was taken to Kaptipada hospital due to the absence of both doctors.
A nurse who was on duty in the PHC at that time had allegedly agreed to see the patients, if the attendants and patient would not mind.
The video of the patient who wasn’t treated at the PHC due to the absence of two doctors became viral on social media when someone captured the incident in a video and posted it on social media around 11 am on Saturday.
The locals have asked for doctors who would perform their duties diligently, as Dr. Himangshu Sekhar Phuhan and Ayush doctor Deepak Behera are very irregular.
Sources said the Ayush doctor Deepak Behera has been deputed to the new PHC for Tuesday and Friday of a week and rest days were found him at Kaptipada hospital.
When contacted, SDMO of Udalal, Dr. Sibananda Mohanty admitted about the problems in the new PHC in Sarat, yet steps are being taken to solve the doctors’ problem in the new PHC soon.
