Berhampur, July 17 (LocalWire): Braving the rains, several boys from the government-run College of Nursing today continued their agitation demanding hostel facilities.
Several girls also extended their solidarity and joined the strike.
There are 22 male students of the 260 students of BSc (Nursing) Post BSc (Nursing) and M.Sc (Nursing).
The college has only one hostel for BSc (Nursing), where 80 girls are housed, sources said.
The students complained that although the government constructed a boys hostel with an estimated cost of Rs 2.62 crores, the college authorities were not
allowing them to utilize it despite several requests,’ said Abhilash Patra,
an agitating student.
‘We are facing accommodation problem in the town and have to pay high room
If the college authorities allow us to utilize the newly-constructed building, our problems can be solved, said Behera.
Principal Rajalaxmi Mishra said the newly-constructed building would be turned into an academic block.
The college authorities have moved a proposal to the government, sources said.
‘We are trying for alternative arrangements for the Boys Hostel,’ she said.
