Kendrapara, Dec 24 (LocalWire) For over 12 years, Babuli Chand of Parahata village, 40 kilometers from here, has not cut his moustache , which has now grown two feet long, thus earning the name of as Nishua.
Showing off his moustache, which looks like a long rope, 51-year-old Babuli said: “Many people find my long moustache quite astonishing. My wife and other family members pestered me a few years back to chop it off. But I did not.”
Babuli works at a petrol pump and it is quite a sight to see kids play with his moustache when he takes a nap in the house.
“My whiskers are my most prized possession. Every day I massage them with mustard oil before taking bath,” said Babuli.
Babuli has not seen popular 1979 Hindi comedy “Gol Maal” where veteran actor Utpal Dutt played a character who hated clean-shaven people. But Babuli shares a similar opinion: “Moustache is a symbol of pride and respect. But now-a-days many youths don’t grow moustaches. I hate clean-shaven people. In ancient times, all brave men and fighters of our country like Shivaji, Rana Pratap, Tipu Sultan and others had moustaches.”
“I am aware Ram Singh Chauhan of Rajasthan has 14 feet long moustache, which even earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. I wish to meet him,” he said.
Babuli’s friend Basant Das said: “I can never imagine that he could grow such a long moustache. We are happy for his achievement.”
