Balangir, December 6 (LocalWire): In recognition of her outstanding services in the difficult Maoist-affected areas, the President of India Ramnath Kobind on Thursday conferred the National Florence Nightingale Award to Mamata Bhoi of Odisha.
Bhoi is a health worker based in Sunamudi under Khaprakhol CHC and has been appreciated for her outstanding work in conducting delivery in remote, Maoist-affected Khaprakhol block of Balangir district.
Mamata stays there and works for reproductive health, mother and child health, vector-borne disease control programs, community medicine and other vertical health programs.
A soft-spoken and amicable woman, locals consider Bhoi as a sincere nurse, whose dedication and commitment to her work has brought glory to the district and the state.
Instituted by Union Ministry of Health in 1973 to recognise the exceptional services of nurses, the award carries Rs 50,000 cash, a citation certificate and a medal.
