Bhubaneswar, Dec 4 (LocalWire): Odisha steel and mines minister Prafulla Mallick on Tuesday said auction for 16 mines will be completed by March after getting required approval from the Centre.
Talking to media persons at the state secretariat here, Mallick said auction of 25 mines is not possible as they have got stay order from the revisional authority, while six mines have been put out of action for not depositing the penalty in accordance with the Supreme Court order.
The collectors concerned have already initiated the process to lodge case against owners of these mines to collect fine and seize the mines, he added.
Process for action of the six mines will begin after completion of the required legal procedure.
“We have written to the Centre seeking approval to auction 16 mines, whose lease has expired; 10 among these are iron one mines,” Mallick said.
Earlier on Aug 10, Union Coal Secretary Anil Mukim, after meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had said that around 18 mines, including iron ore ones, would be auctioned this year.
