Bhubaneswar, May 23 (Local Wire): Odisha government Saturday allowed home delivery of liquor by the ON and OFF shops licensees from the state barring the containment zones and shopping malls.
The government meanwhile increased the MRPs of liquor by adding an extra component of ‘Special Covid Fee’ to be levied on the buyers of liquor. The fee will be 50 per cent of the MRPs of all foreign liquor and beer.
“The additional revenue so generated will go towards meeting the expenses being incurred by State Government in treatment of Covid-19 patients and other related activities,” a statement from the Excise department said.
It also allowed food aggregators and other delivery service providers to supply the liquor at doorsteps.
It has also made public the revised list of MRP of all categories of liquor.
It also said that those sellers taking more than the prescribed amount of money will be liable for legal action.
The department has also put a ceiling on the delivery charges. “The ceiling notified by him at present is Rs 100 for orders upto Rs 1000 and thereafter Rs 25 for every additional Rs 500 order value.
In no case the delivery charge will exceed Rs 300. The aggregators can fix their own rates subject to above ceiling,” the statement from the department said.
