Bhubaneswar, Nov 21 (LocalWire) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has proposed 33% reservation for women in the state legislatures and parliament.
He moved a resolution in the assembly on Tuesday., which was passed unanimously.
“It is a historic decision. This will empower women of Odisha to a great extent,” Patnaik told reporters.
He said the government has always been working sincerely for the socio-economic empowerment of women in the state.
“I have always stood for woman empowerment. No country, state, society and household can move forward by leaving their woman behind,” he said.
Pertinently, the state is already enhancing reservation for women to 50% in the local bodies, the CM added.
