Bhubaneswar, August 25 (LocalWire): Jiten Mahalik, topper of the Odisha matriculation exam, has been awarded the “Utkalamani Gopabandhu Education, Self-Esteem and Sacrifice Merit” scholarship along with a cash price of Rs 1 lakh.
The scholarship is enabled by Satya Sutar, hailing from Fakirpur village in Keonjhar, who is currently the general director of the company Food Empire in Singapore.
Every year, through this scholarship, Mr. Sutar aims to help students who top the board examinations in the state by providing them financial resources in order to enable them to achieve their dream.
The scholarship is named after and inspired by Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, who is considered to be an epitome of education, sacrifice and self-respect.
The award was conferred on Jiten at a program which was attended by D. Prakash Rao – the Guest of Honour, Pradyumna Lenka – veteran Ollywood actor and Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra – former Railway Chief Ex-Principal Chief Safety Officer.
The program was moderated by Annie Satyapathi, while filmmaker Santanu Kumar Sia informed that a short film “The Topper” had been created on Jiten.
