Bhubaneswar, Dec 17 (LocalWire): The state Cabinet today approved of the sector-specific agriculture policy ‘Samridhi’ to improve farming and the condition of farmers with varying conditions of agriculture and its market.
The policy will focus on creating an ecosystem interlinking inputs-production market, sustainable increase in yields of paddy and diversification of high value agriculture (HVA).
It will also encourage efficient and ecologically-sensitive use of water, land and soil, promoting processing which includes cleaning grading.
It envisages creating value chains particularly of vegetables, livestock, dairy, and poultry, encouraging aggregation of farmers in farmer-producer organizations (FPOs), reducing wastages by promoting pre and pro-harvesting management, adapting to climate change.
The policy deals with mainly crop diversification, market infrastructure, fisheries, livestock, procurement, credit, insurance, irrigation and boosting overall agriculture yield.
