Keonjhar, Dec 15 (LocalWire) The Keonjhar Police on Saturday unveiled life size portrait of Amar Saheed Pramod Kumar Satpathy (popularly called ‘Bagha’ meaning tiger) on the premises of District Police Office campus.
Bagha was working as assistant commandant in special operation group of Odisha police and was known for his heroic fight in the ‘Battle of Ghosma” against Naxals on Feb 16, 2008, where he sacrificed his life.
He was awarded the Ashok Chakra posthumously by the Government of India.
Keonjhar Superintendent of Police Jayanarayan Pankaj said: “Bagha was the only Odia police officer to be awarded the Ashok Chakra, one of highest peacetime gallantry award.
All should know about him and remember his sacrifice.”
