Bhubaneswar, April 5 (LocalWire): Odisha’s Pragnya Paramita Acharya has been awarded a gold medal for doing extremely well in her journalism course by the Indira Gandhi National Open University.
She received the medal during IGNOU’s 32nd convocation ceremony held at its Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Centre in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Manoj Kumar Dash, director of IGNOU’s regional center in Bhubaneswar said, “We are proud that a student from our centre got a gold medal at the national-level.”
Gold medalists are chosen based on the recommendation of an IGNOU selection committee. All the toppers of the respective courses are awarded with a gold medal by the university.
Each year, the university gives out 200,000 pass certificates for degree, diploma and certificate courses to successful students.
The convocation address was delivered by Vice President of India and chief guest M. Venkaiah Naidu.
The ceremony was simultaneously conducted at 53 regional centers across the country.
