Bhubaneswar, Jan 4 (LocalWire) Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik has asked the Centre to introduce more trains, including passenger and express trains, over Khurda-Bolangir new rail line.
In a letter to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Patnaik said: “Railways have not introduced any passenger services over this section, for which people are waiting since a long time.”
“I request you to introduce one passenger train in this section, without any further delay, so that the genuine aspirations of the people of western Odisha can be met,” he said.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo also sought express train connectivity from Nayagarh to Howrah in West Bengal and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
“As I had earlier requested, mail express trains from Nayagarh town, which is a District HQ, need to be immediately considered for connectivity to Howrah and Visakhapatnam,” said Patnaik.
He said trains like Garib Rath Express, running between Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, can be back-extended to Nayagarh without any difficulty
“These trains, when introduced, will greatly help people of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur and Bolangir districts to have better access to the large coastal belt of the state as well as to the economic hubs of Kolkata and Visakhapatnam,” the Odisha CM told Goyal.
