Jagatsinghpur, Dec 8 (LocalWire) Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal on Saturday visited weaver crafts village “Bayan Gram”, which has recently been formed among the families of weaver communities of Jaipur village under Raghunathpur block.
Lal interacted with Handloom Producers Group, where women weavers highlighted their issues related to marketing their produce, financial support to procure raw materials and weaving machines, and need for online marketing to increase sales.
Handloom Producers Group secretary Mamata Prusty said: “We are really happy to interact with our Governor. We raised our request to make this craft village as advanced village in national and international arena.
” “We have sought the intervention of the Governor to provide financial assistance to procure raw materials and weaving machines for all women weavers of this village,” she said.
Assuring the members, Lal assured them he will talk with the Odisha government for marketing and financial support to procure raw materials.
He advised weavers to target all groups, including city-based and foreign consumers, and produce a wider variety of weave-based accessories.
Later, Lal attended the Golden Jubilee celebration of Raghunath Nodal High school of Kothi village under Kujang police limit and advised the students to maintain sincerity, discipline, and punctuality for developing good career and committed to cooperate for the development of the state.
The same day, Lal attended silver jubilee celebration of Sarawati Sishu Bidyamandir and its library in Balikuda.
