Bhubaneswar, March 24 (LocalWire): An Odisha man, who hit the headlines last year when he walked 1,500 km to meet PM Narendra Modi, was offered a Congress ticket this time, but he declined.
Although Muktikanta Biswal couldn’t meet the PM, his 71-day feat definitely caught the attention of political parties.
Biswal was carrying the tricolour and a huge poster to remind PM Modi of his promise to get the Ispat General Hospital in Rourkela upgraded, the Hindustan Times reported.
The 31-year-old, though, was admitted to a hospital in Agra, after he fainted on a highway before reaching Delhi.
After the impressive walk, Biswal’s popularity grew, particularly in his hometown Rourkela, and Congress this time decided to offer him a ticket, but he refused.
Biswal said he will not contest the election.
On Friday night, Congress had announced candidates for seven more Lok Sabha and 76 assembly seats.
