Bhubaneswar, Aug 20 (LocalWire): The Union Health and Family Welfare today released data related to spread of Coronavirus across the country and claimed that Odisha was among the top 6 states to report lower ‘positivity rate’.
Positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive for the Coronavirus of those overall who have been tested.
According to the national figures, Odisha reported the positivity rate of 6 per cent while the national average stood at 8.69 percent.
Five other states also reported lower positivity rate in India, better than Odisha. These included-Himachal Pradesh (2 percent), Rajasthan (4 percent), Punjan (4.10%), Madhya Pradesh (4.60%), Uttar Pradesh (4.60%).
“The lower the positivity rate is better. It means as more and more testing is being conducted by Odisha with tests crossing 50,000 mark per day, the lesser number of people being tested COVID positive is the hallmark of a good performing state,” a statement from the state government said today.
