Bhubaneswar, Oct 25 (LocalWire): Odisha recorded six sedition cases and figured seventh in the list of states in registration of these cases, according to the 2017 Crime in India report, released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
The latest NCRB report pointed out commission of six sedition cases in the state while Assam recorded the highest number of such cases followed by Meghalaya, Karnataka, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Nagaland.
The breakup of the cases is – Assam 48, Meghalaya 27, Karnataka 15, Haryana 14, Jammu and Kashmir 11, Nagaland 7 and Odisha 6.
While 160 cases were recorded countrywide, none of the seven Union Territories recorded a single case of sedition as per the latest NCRB report.
Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Punjab, Sikkim and Tripura, these seven states also recorded zero sedition cases, according to the report.
