BHUBANESWAR, September 24 (local Wire) At least four passenger trains were cancelled and 14 others were controlled at different railway stations under East Coast Railway (ECoR) in view of Rail-Roko by Bharat Jakat Maji Pargana Mahal in Jharkhand and some parts of West Bengal under South Eastern Railway jurisdiction on Monday.
Sources said train services were affected in Howrah-Chennai Main line especially at Bhadrak and other places. As a result, most of the trains were controlled enroute and several trains cancelled and short terminated in ECoR jurisdiction due to abnormal late running of trains.
A statement from ECoR said Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express from Bhubaneswar and Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express from Bhubaneswar/Puri will remain cancelled on Tuesday due to cancellation of pairing train from Howrah.
Kharagpur-Bhadrak Passenger from Kharagpur and Bhadrak-Balasore Passenger from Bhadrak were cancelled on Monday.
The trains which were controlled at different locations included Chennai-Howrah Coromandal Express at Bhadrak, Bhubaneswar-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express at Baudpur, Trivandrum-Shalimar Express at Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Puri/Bhubaneswar-Howrah Shatabdi Express at Baitarani Road, Vijayawada-Howrah Express at Balugaon, Hyderabad-Howrah East Coast Express at Dhanmandal and Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Cuttack.
Similarly, Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express was controlled at Bhubaneswar, followed by Yesvantpur-Howrah Duronto Express at Berhampur, Puri-Anand Vihar Nandankanan Express, Mangalore-Santragachhi Express and Puri/Khurda Road-Santragachhi Passenger at Khurda Road, Puri/Bhubaneswar-Howrah Dhauli Express at Bhubaneswar and Puri-Patna Baidyanathdham Express at Puri.
This apart, Puri-Khurda Road Passenger and Khurda Road-Nayagarh Town-Khurda Road passenger will remain cancelled on Tuesday from both the directions due to modernisation work at Puri Railway Station.
