Bhubaneswar, Mar 26 (Local Wire): The state government on Thursday announced coming up with India’s biggest COVID hospital in the state capital within 15 days in collaboration with the premier private medical colleges in the state and with the assistance of corporate houses.
The office of the Chief Minister on Thursday announced that it has signed two tripartite pacts with SUM Hospital, KIMS and corporate bodies like Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd. and Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC).
All of them will work with the government to create the dedicated facility for COVID.
“The state government has signed two tripartite agreements with SUM and KIIMS Medical Colleges on Thursday to set up 1000 bedded state level hospitals in Bhubaneswar for treatment of COVID 19 patients.
These hospitals will be the State facility for Covid 19 treatment. OMC and MCL will provide the CSR funding for the purpose.
Both the new facilities will be functional in a fortnight,” a statement from the CMO said.
The first MoU was signed by the state government, OMC and KIMS management while the second one was signed among state government, MCL and SUM Hospital.
While under the MoU with KIMS it will enable 450 beds another MoU with SUM Hospital will add up 500 new beds dedicated to COVID treatment with ICU facilities.
A statement from the CMO said, “The conventional standard response to handling this novel virus is inadequate.
The global experience shows that COVID 19 patients need to be put under observation and treatment in a separate hospital instead of a general hospital: thus minimizing the chance of transmission to others,”
The State Government has taken this unique initiative to respond to this extraordinary challenge.
The Chief Minister has also directed to set up similar facilities for COVID 19 cases in other areas of the State.
