Bhubaneswar, June 1 (Local Wire): The Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay Monday said that Odisha will continue with its night curfew timing from 7pm to 5am without any change.
This comes after the Home Ministry allowed states to change the night curfew times to 9pm to 5am.
The DGP said that with the powers given by the ministry to the state, Odisha government decided to continue with the existing timing till June 30.
Abhay also said that the police will now scale up their enforcement of rules framed for COVID management like social distancing, wearing masks and others.
“Till now we were more inclined towards increasing awareness but from today evening we will start taking strict actions like fines, arrests and booking the culprits,” he said.
He also said that in higher COVID case reporting districts, movement of people and opening of commercial esbtlaishments will not be allowed on Saturday and Sunday till June 30.
