Bhubaneswar, Nov 27 (LocalWire) Odisha is all set to prepare a Flood Hazard Atlas , said officials on Tuesday.
A state-level consultation meeting on preparation of Flood Hazard Atlas for Odisha was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Disaster Management and Managing Director, OSDMA on Monday in the Conference hall of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA).
The atlas is being prepared by the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), ISRO, Hyderabad using satellite based flood inundation information for the period from 2001 to 2018.
The atlas would be helpful for flood management in the state and also taking various flood preparedness measures.
At the outset, Dr. K.V.H. Durga Rao, Head, Disaster Management Support Division, NRSC outlined about the methodology adopted for preparation of the atlas.
Officers from Department of Water Resources, Department of Agriculture, Office of Special relief Commissioner, OSDMA, RIMES, IMD and District Project Officers attended the meeting and provided necessary inputs for preparation of the atlas.
The atlas would be finalized and published by end of January, 2019.
